Robert Hughes ’02

Robert Hughes ’02 may have only attended Ridley for one year, but he certainly accomplished a lot in that year.  Hughes played on three competitive sports teams, was the lead in the play and won the Best Officer Award in Cadets.

After graduating from Ridley, he was set to attend Dalhousie University, but decided to change his path and enter the British Royal Marines.  He completed training at the age of 21 and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.  Currently, Hughes is in charge of business development for Western Canada for Total Security Management. Hughes came back to campus to tell students about his experiences with the Marines and to talk about the impact that Ridley Cadets had on his life.  I was able to sit down and talk with Hughes before the annual Cadet Mess Dinner:
