Ridley Sports Update

The Tennis team beat Appleby last Wednesday, The Girls Golf team won its second straight tournament in Oakville after winning in Niagara the week before, and the Senior Girls Soccer team had a big 3-2 win on the road at Villanova Saturday to stay on top of the league.  All of these teams remain undefeated after four weeks of competition.

The Tiger Track team had a number of top results and personal bests in the rain last week at Country Day.  Despite cold drizzle and bone-chilling wind, the Ridley Track and Field Team made Ridley proud at the Country Day Invitational Track and Field Meet.   Many athletes came home with new personal bests. Tiger sportsmanship was alive and well; special BRC ‘Shout Out’ to Luis Lopez who, even after losing a shoe mid-race, fought his way to a respectable 5th place finish in the Junior Boys 800m.  Next stop: CISAA Championships May 12-13.

Our Tiger crews showed very well indeed at the Mother’s Day Regatta with a number of top performances including medals in the following races:

  • Senior women Double (Madi Leitch, Alison Whitty) and the Senior Women Quad (Madi Leitch, Alison Whitty, Emily Barham, Charlotte Clarke) both won gold.
  • Two Senior Men 4’s made up of the Heavy 8 (Austin Bald, Connor Boyd, Mackenzie Copp, John Chisholm, Owen Kemp-Griffin, Colin MacKay, Jordan Meyers, Jasper Zawadski) finished with Silver and Bronze.
  • Junior Women’s Double finished 3rd (Julia Vander Hoeven, Juliette Chapman).
  • Junior Mens 4 finished 3rd (coxie: Laura Court, Cosmo Steier, Sammy Prantera, John Murre, Peter Malik)
