Ridley Students Participate in ‘Shine a Light’ on Human Rights Event in Niagara Falls

Group of Ridley Students and faculty member Shelley T. at Niagara Falls

Ridley College Amnesty International members, Norm C., Maddie H., and Charlotte S., and Faculty member Shelley T., braved the cold on December 10th to witness the spectacular transformation of Canada’s most famous natural landmark into a glowing beacon for human rights to celebrate Amnesty’s 50 years of human rights work.  Julia Chapman OR ’09, and her parents, Graham and Andja Chapman, also joined Ridley’s group in support of Amnesty’s vital work.

The illumination of Niagara Falls in Amnesty yellow, was part of a global event including a Shine a Light concert in Taiwan, street events in Paris, a candle-lit parade in Mali as well as events at other famous landmarks around the world (including the London Eye, Sydney Opera House, and the Empire State Building).
