On Monday evening, Dr. Zopito Marini a Brock University Professor who is a leading expert in the field of bullying research presented to the Ridley community as a part of Anti-Bullying and Prevention Week organized by Mr. O’Rourke. Dr. Marini’s lab is currently examining the psychosocial factors involved in bullying and victimization and looking at prevention strategies. Following the presentation there was an open forum for students, teachers and parents to ask questions to a panel, which included, Dr. Marini, Mrs. Kidd – trained councilor and Lower School parent, Mrs. Papp – Director of Student Health Services and school prefects Andrew Pace ’12 and Maggie Thomas ‘12. The evening promoted a candid discussion on the topic of bullying prompted by many of our senior Lower School students.
