Cadet Inspection 2014

Inspecting Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Orest Babij ’87, MSM, CD returned to the Ridley College this past Saturday for the 107th annual Cadet Inspection.  As an Old Ridleian the Inspecting Officer had a unique perspective having experienced cadets when he attended the school.

It was a memorable day with the decommissioning of the Lt. Col A.C. Iggulden sword being returned to the Iggulden family and a new sword being introduced that was donated by many members of the Ridley family. A special thank you to Gary German ’58, Peter Hutchison ’55, Steve Laine ’94, Terry Mactaggart ’62, Richard Malone ’59, Rob Pintwala ’08, Tim Powell ’74, Bryan Rose ’96, John Sandham ’66, Marshall Soules ’67, David Walker ’83, Ross Webster ’60 for making this possible.

The cadets have been plagued with rain and snow during the preparation for inspection, but thankfully only a light sprinkle occurred on the day. The students should be very proud of their inspection and have earned a sleep-in for their handwork! Check out the formation of the hollow square:

  1. Glad to see The Name of My Favourite Ridley Old Boy GARY GERMAN. Class of 1958. My Favourite Class. You see I looked up to him as a little Lower School Boy. I cheered for him in Hockey and Football and clapped so hard for Him when He accepted The Mason Gold Medal. I was so proud of My HERO.No.1. Ward Passi. Was No.2. Could I be like these 2 Men when I reached my finale year at Ridley? GOD only knew!
